Oh, if it's intentional that's okay I guess, it just feels really jarring as an actual Japanese speaker.
In general, using overbars/macrons in romaji is a choice, but writing those things sideways is just wrong, it's a typical mistake that people new to the language make, especially when using computers.
But yeah, this case can be exceptional.

All of the nobasu (ー) are rendered with the wrong orientation in vertical text and it looks ridiculous.

Just testing now, I used OpenOffice and turned on not only "vertically stacked" but also "asian layout mode".
I assume you need to find an equivalent in whatever program you're using.

That makes sense to me. The cause of the missing directory was different from what I anticipated, but the outcome is the same.

What was the cause exactly? Was I close? Or maybe it was a regional thing?

Either way congrats on removing a showstopping bug that didn't occur on your machine.

Oh hey, looks like this works now! This is the first version of Pixel Composer that has been able to launch correctly for me at all!

Oh actually I just noticed a separate issue.
My windows username and user profile folder location aren't identical. Looks like you might be using the %Username% to determine the user profile folder? If so, don't do that. Try %UserProfile% instead.

GAME IS FLAG crashes the game. Even though FLAG IS WIN.
GAME IS YOU is fantastic though, great work.

I was on 0.9.0.  It silently never really opens. The only thing I can see is the log is "session begin" and that you should add leading zeroes on the minutes and seconds. No other entries in the log. also it was at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Pixels_Composer\log_temp.txt
I upgraded to 10.1 and it also fails silently with "session begin" in the log.
I uninstalled all that and installed 0.9.1
0.9.1 fails too, writing the same thing to the log, but not so silently:

Maybe it doesn't like dodgy Intel iGPUs?

Turn up ambient sounds, put headphones on, stand near the fire at the very start of the game, and spin around slowly...

Why the hell is the sound direction decided by Claire's head orientation?? It's seriously disorienting.

At least ambient sounds do this. Don't know about sound effects, I haven't tested yet.

Same issue, running through itch launcher. It quits before it's visible. I'm running on an Intel iGPU here, and they have been known to have issues with certain things, especially with some versions of OpenGL. What are you using to draw the display?
